Award for participation in the Climate and Environment Pact

The Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact is one of the most successful environmental initiatives in Germany. Companies that participate in the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment for the fifth time in a row receive a special award. Bavaria's Minister of the Environment Thorsten Glauber emphasised today at the presentation ceremony of the gold certificates to 100 participants from Upper Bavaria and Swabia at Nymphenburg Palace in Munich: "The Environmental and Climate Pact is a model of success. It combines economy and ecology. The high number of participants in our environmental initiative shows: Bavaria as a business location is also Bavaria as an environmental location. Environmental and climate protection are of decisive importance for long-term economic success - they are growth drivers of the future. Special long-standing and lasting commitment deserves special recognition. With the Gold Award, we say thank you to our long-standing partners. Together we will master climate change." In total, more than 1,600 Bavarian companies and institutions from the business sector participate in the Environment and Climate Pact.

The Environmental and Climate Pact is an agreement between the Bavarian State Government and the Bavarian business community. The spectrum ranges from small craft enterprises to large companies listed on the stock exchange. Within this framework, companies take a variety of innovative environmental and climate measures on the basis of voluntary action and personal responsibility. The focus is particularly on climate protection, resource efficiency, energy efficiency and renewable energies, waste disposal and recycling, handling plastics, land use, biodiversity and species protection, environmental technology, water use and sustainability. A website with a wide range of information and advisory services as well as a best-practice platform with practical examples from the business community are also intended to provide assistance and contacts for imitators. The Environmental Pact has been in existence since 1995. In 2020, the Environmental Partnership was transferred to a new Environmental and Climate Pact.
